The short film based on my story, “Moonlight Sonata, With Scissors,” is now available for streaming on Vimeo! This 8-minute film is directed by award-winning indie filmmaker Chris Ethridge and produced by Dayna Noffke. I am extremely proud of how Chris and Dayna adapted my short story into an awesome film. Here’s the link where you can rent it for $5.00 for a one-week rental period:

I especially like how the interviewer, Jeff Howard, talks about the film being a “closed loop” story – but instead of having an unreliable narrator (a favorite horror trope), the story has a reliable narrator who lives in an unreliable world.
And if you want to read my original short story that the film is based on, you can find it in my collection, “I Never Meant to Start a Murder Cult and Other Stories,” available at Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. Chris made a few changes to the story, including making the main character female instead of male, and all the changes were made with my approval. Hailey Grace Swarthout (shown above) does an awesome job as the main character Zee, and the other actors, Troy Halverson and Jeff Strand, are also great. (My friend Jeff played the corpse in the back of the truck at my request, although Chris declined my request to stab Jeff repeatedly to make sure he was dead.)
